Introduction

The English Department, inaugurated in October 2010 within the framework of Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) in Bhimber, has undergone a significant transition. Originally established under MUST, it has now merged with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University of Bhimber. Our department is committed to providing exceptional education and fostering a deep appreciation for both language and literature. With a distinguished faculty comprising experienced, skilled, and dedicated members, we take pride in our role in shaping the academic and professional trajectories of our students. They are equipped not only with literary prowess but also with a versatile skill set, positioning them to excel in various governmental departments and beyond.

Mission

The Department of English aims to equip the students with a repertoire of skills and a knowledge base, which allows them to have a firm grounding in the fields of Linguistics and English Literature. At the same time, the program is geared towards developing and strengthening their critical thinking and effective communication to break new grounds and discover new avenues as well as arm them with skills, which further help them to pursue higher studies where they can critique the current trends in linguistics and literature fields.

Objectives:

1. To familiarize the learners with the traditional and latest developments in the field of Linguistics and Literature and have good standing in theoretical knowledge in these fields.
2. To enable the graduates to apply knowledge gained in the degree program effectively and efficiently.
3. To enable the students to identify the current global trends in linguistics and literature.
4. To encourage critical thinking and effective communication skills to critique the current knowledge in these disciplines.
5. To pursue higher studies in any International University of high repute.
6. To familiarize the students with the basis of general courses of different disciplines
